Concept of Exam Ethics.
Examination ethics is the respect for the rules, regulations, codes of conduct and moral principles governing examination, assessment and evaluating systems in education and other competitive endeavors.
Exam Ethics is the opposite of examination malpractice, which is any act of omission or commission which compromises the validity of any examination, assessment or evaluation system in education and any other competitive endeavor.
Philosophy of Exam Ethics Movement.
The philosophical foundation of the Exam Ethics Movement is hinged on the Exam Ethics Theory of Success and Exam Malpractice Theory of Failure.
Exam Ethics Theory of Success holds that: Exam Ethics promotes success by promoting ethical values, competence and competitive advantage.
Exam Malpractice Theory of Failure holds that: Exam malpractice promotes failure by promoting corruption, incompetency and competitive disadvantage.
The exam ethics theory of success and exam malpractice theory of failure hold true for individuals, institutions, companies, organizations, states, regions and nations.
The fundamental belief of the Movement is that unless and until the moral foundation of education is rebuilt and strengthened, all other efforts aimed at combating corruption, promoting moral and ethical values, socio-economic development, good governance and good leadership will not achieve sustainable success. And unless the integrity of education is successfully defended in any institution, that institution will fall short of being a center of excellence for breeding ethics-friendly leaders of tomorrow.
The six core values of Exam Ethics Marshals Movement include: Ethics, Truth, Honor, Integrity, Credibility and Sustainability.
The core doctrine of the Exam Ethics Marshal Movement since 1996 has been “it starts with me”. The most important contribution of the Marshal is to adhere strictly to the code of ethical self-regulation and discipline in his or her duty post. Only then can the Marshal summon the moral authority to insist on best practices from other stakeholders as well as act as a model and mentor to pupils and students. The Marshal Movement is, first and foremost, about what you are doing, what I am doing as a Marshal.
